.Land Rovers are well known for there rust so rust prevention treatment is essential if you want to protect your vehicle. The ideal time to protect your vehicle is when it is new but this is not essential.


Here at DPG Defenders, we only use Dinitrol products.


So why do Land Rovers Rust?

  • The Chassis, Bulkhead, Axles, Fasteners and the majority of body to chassis brackets are made from steel, which contains a portion of Iron. Iron reacts with Water and Oxygen to form a hydrated oxide (typically Fe2O3) we know as rust
  • Land Rovers are often used in high salt content and high moisture environments (winter roads, off road, fording) which brings the chassis and other steel components into contact with water that has an increased salt volume. Salt acts a catalyst for the rust formation process.
  • Factory applied corrosion protection isn't the best.
  • The ladder chassis design can hinder water dispersal and trap mud and moisture internally, if not regularly cleaned


Why Dinitrol?



When applied, this cavity wax spreads and creeps into all the nock,crannies and seams. It also contains a rust inhibitor to neutralize any surface rust it comes in contact with. With the aid of a 4 way spraying extension lance, the product be applied deep into cavities.


Traditional Waxoyl is oil and wax mixed so it never cures and on hot days continues to drip out of any holes left and you will get an odour from the oil, whereas, DINITROL 4941 is wax and solvent so when the solvent evaporates it leaves only wax which expands and contracts with temperature changes.

When DINITROL 4941 cures it leaves a skin and stays soft underneath allowing it to self heal in all temperatures. It leaves a factory looking, satin black finish making your vehicle look like new. Other products can leave a tacky waxy texture which can be a messy nightmare when carrying out mechanical jobs on your vehicle.


Dinitrol RC800 actively converts the rust present into a stable organic iron complex. As a polymer dries, it forms an impermeable barrier to oxygen and mosture effectiely sealing out and further corrosion.

The process used.


Stage 1. Vehicle cleaning to remove underbody debris and contaminates.

Stage 2. Treatment of existing rust by removing loose rust by wire brush and then applying Dinitrol RC800. Internal of the chassis treated with RC900.

Stage 3. Wheel, front bumper and grill removal.

Stage 4. Vehicle masking including exhaust, propshafts, brakes, engine, gearbox, transferbox and of course, the body paintwork.

Stage 5. Injection of the chassis internally, including crossmembers with Dinitrol ML (3125), cavity wax.

Stage 6. Light coating of the chassis/underbody with Dinitrol ML(3125), cavity wax.

Stage 7. Underbody coating with Dinitrol 4941. This seals in and protects the Dinitrol 3125 previously applied.

Stage 8. Demask and clean up.


Defenders are a nightmare when it comes to rusty screws/washers and fittings in general. Rusty Hinge screws, tub to chassis bolts, grill screws to name a few, look horrible and if left can cause all manner of corrosion spread from staining body panels to actually body corrosion.

Here at DPG Defenders we can supply and fit your fittings with stainless steel items that will never rust. All captive replacement fittings are fitted using copper grease to prevent seizure/add corrosion protection to the mild steel captives.
